Analyst Ming-Chi Kuo, who has been accurate about Apple’s Mac products in the past this time again comes up with another speculation. He has published a new report indicating that Apple may be “preparing” to discontinue the 17-inch MacBook Pro due to weak sales.
Apple has been working on new notbooks htat will serve as a hybrid between the current MacBooks Air and MackBook Pro models, offering more power to the Air and greater portability to the Pro.
This year as said by Apple’s CEO Tim Cook, will be a big one in many ways, one of which is for the Macs.
There is two main updates (as far as I know) that are going to provide a boost to the Macs in 2012:
- Mountain Lion: Which integrates iOS features into the MAc OS and Apple TV’s interaction function
- Upgrading to Ivy Bridge
While these new products and features will be added, the 17″ MacBook Pro may be discontinued mainly due to falling shipments.
What do you make of Mr. Kuo’s prediction?
