Pod2G Has Untethered His New iPad Running iOS 5.1…

Few days back, pod2g revealed that his untethered jailbreak works on iPhone 4 running iOS 5.1.

He has now tweeted that the untethered jailbreak also work on the new iPad (iPad 3,1) running iOS 5.1.

Pod2g just tweeted:

Couple of weeks back, pod2g had revealed that he had discovered 2 big vulnerabilities in iOS 5.1, in addition to the five vulnerabilities that they had discovered earlier. However, he wasn’t sure if the exploits could be used to perform an untethered jailbreak.

But he has managed to successfully jailbreak iPhone 4 and the new iPad (iPad 3,1). It remains to be seen if the untethered jailbreak will also work with iPhone 4S and iPad 2 powered by Apple’s A5 chip, but the fact that it has worked with the new iPad powered by Apple’s A5X chip, it is almost certain that it will work on them as well.

It will also be interesting to see if pod2g’s untethered jailbreak also works on iOS 5.1.1 that was released by Apple earlier in the week. Stefan Esser aka i0n1c who had also managed to jailbreak the new iPad running iOS 5.1, has revealed that his untethered jailbreak works on iOS 5.1.1 as well, though he has categorically stated that he doesn’t plan to release the jailbreak.

Pod2g also tells us that since his untethered jailbreak works on iPhone 4 and iPad 3, it should work with other iOS 5.1 devices like iPhone 4S and iPad 2 as well. But it may not work with Apple TV 3. He tweeted:

And finally here is the video by Pod2G showing off his untethered iPad 3:

How impressed are you by Pod2G this time round?

Sn0wbreeze updated to support AppleTV 2

Previously iH8sn0w had released v2.9.2 of his famous jailbreak tool known as Sn0wbreeze which allowed you to do a tethered jailbreak for iPhone 3GS and iPhone 4 running on iOS 5.1.

iH8sn0w seeded another version of the software, bringing it to v2.9.3. This update includes a minor bug fix, but also features new jailbreak support for Apple TV’s on iOS 4.4.3 and 4.4.4…

Here is the change log posted on iH8sn0w’s blog:

“sn0wbreeze v2.9.3.

What is New?

  • Added Apple TV 2 support for iOS 4.4.3/4.4.4.
  • Fixed rare issues with iOS 5.0.1 where it would halt on the Apple upon boot.

Just adding this in mainly for users who dumped their SHSH blobs. On the initial boot, the Apple TV may have a black screen for 60 seconds after setting up the Apple TV. This is normal.”

If you want to download Sn0wbreeze v2.9.3 head over to our downloads page and get it (remember it is only for Windows).

How To Fix SSH Connection Issues

Before we start anything let me clarify that I don’t hold any responsibility of whatever happens to your iDevice due to this fix, but many users have reported that this fix has worked. Also do not be impulsive, first read the whole post then start the fix or install the deb.

If you are one of the many people who are facing issues while SSHing into your device because of “ssh_exchange_identification” error well I think this post is what you are looking for.

Screenshot of the error:

A few months ago I was just trying to SSH into my iPhone 4S and saw that I was unable to do so because my FTP client showed that my username or password is not acceptable, so to verify my password I open terminal and when I was verify password I saw that I was hit with the error “Connection CLosed By Remote Host”, I was baffled at this but I kept on trying eventually I gave up and restored my device and that fixed it. But after a few weeks I was again hit by the same thing so I decided to find a fix for it and I have been able to do so with success.

You can either get the deb from our downloads page and install it using iFile or follow the written instructions below. (The deb will be submitted to Cydia shortly but if you are really impatient check out the deb) Check it out below:
