Review: Chip

It is no question that there are numerous Cydia tweaks to customize the notification banners on your iPhone, iPod Touch or iPad. Two tweaks that might come to your mind now are Vexillum and ColorBanner, both of them allow you to customize your notification center banners. The current problem with existing notification banner customizing tweaks is that they lack complete control of all aspects of the actual banner. This is why when Chip was released I was excited to share it with you.

Chip is a complete notification banner customizing platform that allows you to edit the background color (solid color or gradient effect), border color, border width and even text color. And while changing the color of various aspects of your notification banner you can choose from pre-set colors or use the RGB sliders.

Another neat feature of Chip is that you can customize the animation of your notification banners and also the sound of the notification (built-in ringtones or iTunes ringtones). The developers of Chip promise to make more animations available in each update as well!

You can check out Chip in action below:

If you are looking for a tweak to provide you with complete control over how your notification banners look on your iPhone, iPod Touch or iPad then Chip is definitely for you. You can get Chip for $1.99 in Cydia under the BigBoss repo.

Review: DoNotDisturb

Let’s think of a scenario which most of you have already been in, you are on the phone talking to someone and suddenly you receive a message or Twitter notification from someone, and your phone goes bling bling bling… etc etc, cause of the notifications. Well this is kinda annoying as you all know. Now thanks to a new tweak known as DoNotDisturb you can avoid this scenario and talk happily on the phone without any interruption (from the notifications).

DoNotDisturb is a notification Center widget which is just a simple toggle. Once you toggle it to on the incoming notifications will not disturb you with a sound but will still show a badge app icon and will stay in your notification center. There are no options to configure. All you’ve gotta do is head to the Notificaiton settings and place it wherever you want.

You can check out DoNotDisturb in action below:

If you are interested in DoNotDisturb you can go ahead and install it from Cydia under the ModMyi repo.

Review: Curiosa

One of the most awaited tweaks – Curiosa (formerly known as Cydia Bulletin). The tweak was flaunted by Ryan Petrich a long time ago, but it never made it into Cydia for a few reasons, the main one being that it’ll affect the default repos, making the loading slow. But now Curiosa has made it’s way into Cydia and works just as advertised.

Curiosa basically notifies you whenever there is an update available for any Cydia tweak that you have installed.

It adds a settings panel which gives you the following options:

1. Automatic Refresh:

  • You can set the duration of when you want Curiosa to check if any update is available under the “When” sub-option.
  • Require Wi-Fi: You can toggle this to on if you want Curiosa to check for updates when you are connected to a Wi-Fi router

2. Manual Refresh:

  • If you choose “Manual” in the “When” option then you will have to set an Activator action, invoking which, will allow Curiosa to check for updates
  • Refresh Now button, on being tapped checks for updates

3. Notification Keywords:

  • It will show update notifications for installed packages and those that match the specified keywords

Check out Curiosa in action below:

If you are interested in Curiosa you will have to add Ryan Petrich’s beta repo: http://rpetri.ch/repo/

Review: Clipboard Edit For Notification Center

If you have ever wanted to easily edit your Clipboard, then I present to you Clipboard Edit for Notification Center. It is a new jailbreak tweak which allows you to easily tap and edit your Clipboard directly from the Notification Center. The good thing about the tweak is that once you hit return after editing your Clipboard it gets saved, so that you can easily paste the text anywhere.

Review: Gamer

Do you play a lot of games on your iDevice and due to that fact you miss out on something important? Well with This new tweak Gamer you can forget about forgetting your other appointments.

Gamer is basically a time ticker for the apps that you choose.

You can go into the settings panel and  cofigure it the way you want, you can choose the amount of time you want to play the game before the alert pops-up, you can also select a snooze time for the alarm. Then you can tap on “Application” and toggle the apps you want the time to tick for or you can just tap invert selection also.

Another good feature of Gamer is that it also allows you to add a Notification Center widget for the time ticker. To enable it you have to navigate to Settings > Notification and then scroll down till you see “NC Gamer Widget” and then edit and place it wherever you want to.

Check out Gamer in action below:

If you are interested in Gamer you can get it from Cydia for $1.50 under the BigBoss repo.

Deck

Deck – one of the most awaited jailbreak tweaks, I have wanted it since the time I heard @SBCoders announcing it’s features. As you all know it has been released in Cydia and costs $1.99 which is very reasonable for all it provides you.

Let’s get right into the features that Deck provides us with.

Here is the compiled in-depth review of Deck:

NCLock: Adds A Rotation Lock Button To Your Notification Center

NCLock is a new jailbreak tweak by @rud0lf77 which simply adds a rotation lock button to the bottom left-hand side of your Notification Center. This is quite useful if you want to block rotations of your screen and don’t want to pay to get this as IntelliScreenX also provides you this feature.

In Depth Review Of Aloud (Really In Depth ;P)

Every now and then we want a new jailbreak tweak which will allow us a ton of customization options just like those of IntelliScreenX and Springtomize 2, we just love those tweaks which provide us a lot because otherwise we need to scroll through Cydia and get numerous tweaks to complete our needs. So today morning when I refreshed Cydia I saw “Aloud” I opened it up and was looking at it with an eye closed, when I scrolled down to the feature list, both my eyes were wide open! The feature list of the tweak consisted of about 30 features (including the description), I made up my mind to get this tweak and review it for all of you. So here I present to you Aloud by @cjori.

First of all you would like to know that the tweak has an introductory price of $0.99 for the first three days, after which it will increase so i suggest you get this ASAP. Now without any more ado let’s get to the tweak.

FastClear: Easily Dismiss Notifications In the Notification Center

FastClear is a new jailbreak tweak much similar to one of the functions which is already existing in Springtmize 2. But this tweak is free and lets to access this function very easily. So what is this “function”?
Well as you know in the Notification Center to clear a notification you need to first tap on the ‘x’ and then on ‘clear’ to dismiss the notification, now all you have to do is just tap on the ‘clear’ button and the notification will dismiss itself. Helpful eh?
