Review: HUDChanger

HUDChanger is a new tweak that changes your Volume heads-up display. Instead of the default volume increase/decrease display you will see a smaller better looking display which displays the volume in a percentage format.

There is one thing I don’t like in the tweak is that it does not show the increase/decrease in real time like the default iOS Volume HUD.

You can check out HUDChanger in action below:

If you are interested in HUDChanger you can go ahead and install it for free from Cydia under the BigBoss repo.

Review: LaunchSpeak

LaunchSpeak is a new Cydia tweak that allows you to input your own custom text that you want your iDevice to speak when you launch an application from the Homescreen.

Apart from changing the text, you also have the ability to toggle the tweak on and off, which is a good tool to have just in case you are in a location where you need to be quiet and don’t want your phone to be speaking constantly while you use it.The tweak requires you to respring every time you change the text from the text input box in the settings panel that the tweak adds.

You won’t be seeing a video review of the tweak by me since I’m having issues with it. But if you are interested then you can go ahead and install LaunchSpeak for free from Cydia under the ModMyi repo.

Did it work for you?

Review: Switchy

There are many tweaks in Cydia that allow you to get the most out of your AppSwitcher but perhaps none like Switchy. Switchy is a new tweak that enhances the use of your AppSwitcher. It adds an extra row of open applications, making a total of eight icons displayed together. The new Music Switcher hosts the Music App shortcut, the play/pause and forward/backward button, with a volume slider and the AirPlay button. It also displays the name of the artist and song playing in the middle empty space. A third page is also added with three features namely, a settings app shortcut, a brightness slider and a clear all apps tap button.

The tweak is made so nice that it does not conflict with Zephyr or other AppSwticher tweaks (I have not tried all of them).

You can check out Switchy in action below:

If you are interested in Switchy you can go ahead and purchase it for $1 from Cydia under the BigBoss repo.

Review: HomeSpringPage

Have you guys ever wanted a clean, plain page on your SpringBoard with nothing on it except the dock? Well if your thinking was this bizarre, then a new tweak known as HomeSpringPage takes care of your thoughts. The tweak is a very simple one and does nothing except adding an extra page in your SpringBoard as the first page. You can not decide the position of the blank page, it will always be the first one. After installing the tweak it will automatically shift all your apps to the next page, but if you want you can always re-arrange your apps on the blank page.

I don’t see any point of this tweak except that if you want to use it with Dashboard X as a page for your widgets.

You can check out HomeSpringPage in action below:

If you are interested in HomeSpringPage then you can go ahead and install it from Cydia for free.

Review: RainBoard

RainBoard is a new jailbreak tweak which makes it rain on your SpringBoard, well not exactly rain but yeah sort of. It makes 9 icons fall from up to down/down to up, depending on your choice. The tweak adds two button on the SpringBoard which can be hidden and shown via an Activator action. In the setting panel you will see nine option (18 sliders) with all these sliders you can configure the speed of the animation.

You can even change the icons to any custom image you want by placing the images to /var/mobile/Library/RainBoard and then rename them.

Check out RainBoard in action below:

Personally I think RainBoard would have been a much better tweak if instead of icons there were actually rain drops falling continuously. But thats just me, if you are interested in RainBoard you can go ahead and install it from Cydia under the BigBoss repo.

Review: ReflectAll

Do you like the app icon reflections that you get when you place one in the Dock? Well if you do, then this new tweak - ReflectAll will put a reflection of all the app icons on your SpringBoard. That’s pretty much it what the tweak does. There are no options to configure, so it’s just download and go.

Check out ReflectAll in action below:

Personally I kinda like this tweak but I’m sure there was another tweak which did the same thing, I don’t quite remember the name, hence ReflectAll will be the one I’ll keep.

If you are interested in ReflectAll you can head over to Cydia and install it for free.

Review: VolumeColor

VolumeColor is a jailbreak tweak which various colors to your Volume heads-up display (HUD), by this I mean, whenever you increase/decrease the volume you see the display that shows you the increase/decrease, well the tweak goes ahead and change this color to a preset color which can be chosen by you.

Another feature in this tweak is that it you can also choose to randomize the colors every time you up/down the volume. You can also decide the opacity of the heads-up display.

Check out VolumeColor in action below:

If you are interested in VolumeColor you can go ahead and download it for free from Cydia’s BigBoss repo.

Review: SwipeSelection

Remember Daniel Hooper’s iPad keyboard demo? It involved dragging cursor to highlight a portion of text and several other gestures to make text editing on the iPad much easier. Taking this awesome idea into consideration, iOS developer Kyle Howells has created a jailbreak tweak SwipeSelection that imitates the Daniel’s original demo video.

SwipeSelection app has earned a lot of positive comments because of the wonderful functionality and convenience that it brings to edit text on the iPad. Even infamous Apple critic John Gruber felt (after watching Hooper’s video) that existing iPad lacks required text editing feature and called the video – “clever iPad text editing concept”. The tweak gives you another reason to jailbreak and shows you just how awesome the jailbreak community is.

If this is the kind of tweak you’re interested in trying out, just head over to the Cydia store and search for SwipeSelection under BigBoss repo.

Review: Spatz+

Spatz+, just as the developer (@rud0lf77) says in it’s Cydia description, it’s like Sparrow+ but better. Spatz+ offers you real Sparrow push notifications. It gives you the ability to configure Sparrow notifications like any other push enabled app. You can choose to integrate it with the Notification Center or choose the alert style you want or show a badge icon, play a sound and even view in Lock Screen. The tweak only offers notification settings, it does not out-right help Sparrow to replace the mail app. The developer is working to make it a proper replacement to the mail app. But none the less Spatz+ has made Sparrow “Dock Worthy”.

Check out the Spatz+ in action below:

To install Spatz+ you will need to add the following repository to your Cydia sources: http://cydia.rud0lf77.be
